He was educated in the usual log-cabin country school of the vicinity, but broadened his educational knowledge by observation and experience. He always followed agricultural pursuits, and was the owner of a well-cultivated and productive farm, which was furnished with fine stock. He was an active politician, and was ever a leader in all progressive movements of the community intend to improve the general welfare.
