He passed the greater portion of his life in the vicinity of Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. In early life he was a farmer, and in 1848 purchased an estate on which he resided during the remainder of his days and which later became the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leighty.
