He settled in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and there continued farming until 1847, when he came to Peters township, remaining there until 1856, when he came to a residence in Washington County. He was a Republican; a member of the U. P. Church.

Five children were born to him and his wife, two of whom were still living in 1889.
