General Notes: Husband - Benjamin Jordan


He [John Jordan] located in Lawrence township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, in pioneer days, and lived there until his death.

A Marylander by birth, he served in the Revolutionary War with the Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, Militia, and came to Clearfield from Centre County in 1803.

In the Revolutionary period, the name Ensign Benjamin Jordan appears in a list of officers Third Battalion Northumberland County militia "as of March 13, 1776 (Pa. Archives 5 9 Ser. Vol. 8 p. 653) under Lieut. Col. James Murray" and he is listed also on the muster roll of Capt. Cookson Long's Company of Second Battalion Northumberland Co. militia under command of Col. James Potter December 3, 1776, and "now in actual service." (Pa. Arch. Ibid p. 646).
