General Notes: Husband - Thomas Arnott

His parents lived and died in England, where his father was a landowner. He remained in the land of his birth until after he reached manhood, being twenty-eight years of age when he came to America. For a short time he lived in Mercer County, PA, removing thence to Venango County and locating at Plumer, where he engaged in merchandising, having one of the first stores at that place. He was there when the oil excitement broke out, and in common with other men of the vicinity bought land which seemed promising for oil exploitation, he and his associates being fortunate in finding oil on their holdings. After a number of years of paying operations Mr. Arnott disposed of his interests, in 1871 removing to Franklin, where he spent the rest of his long life in retirement. His home was established on the property at No. 1129 Liberty Street which he purchased, and there he died. [CAB, 1058]
