General Notes: Husband - Samuel Patchin

There came to America in early Colonial days one Samuel Patchin, who left his native home in England and became a resident of Massachusetts. When the Revolution began, he raised a company of troops for service in the Patriot army, and as its captain remained at its head until captured and taken to England. Sometime afterward he was exchanged, and returned at once to his company, continuing as a loyal advocate of the cause of independence until the British rule was overthrown. He then returned to Massachusetts, and subsequently took up his residence at Lake George, Warren County, New York, where he purchased large tracts of land. He followed farming there, and was also active in opening up the region to civilization. He died at the advanced age of eighty-five years, and left to his family a large estate.
