General Notes: Husband - William Hoge
He came to America from Scotland in 1681, settled first in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, afterward in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and then in Winchester, Virginia.
A native of Musselburgh, Scotland, he came to America shortly after 1682. On the same ship came a family consisting of a Mr. Hume, his wife and daughter, from Paisley. On the passage the father and mother both died, and Mr. Hoge took charge of the daughter and when they landed at New York, he left the girl with a relative, and settled himself at Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He subsequently married the daughter, Barbara Hume, removed to Penn's Three Lower Counties, now the State of Delaware; from
thence to Lancaster County, Penns lvania, and thence to the Valley
of Virginia, about three miles south of Winchester, where he and his
wife lived and died.
