General Notes: Husband - John Gibson Johnson
He was born on the old home farm near Canonsburg, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where his boyhood was spent. He attended the academy at Beaver, Pennsylvania, afterward beginning an active business life as a farmer and stock dealer, following that vocation for many years, making a trip to Pittsburgh with stock nearly every week. Late in life, he owned 166 acres of good land, two houses and lots in Canonsburg, a storeroom and dwelling, and three houses in Burgettstown. In politics he was a stanch Republican, although never caring to take an active part in the turmoil of political warfare. He lived in a beautiful home, situated at the eastern extremity of Cross Creek village, enjoying the fruits of a life of industry.
He was a dealer in stocks, bonds and real estate and in association with John L. Cockins, laid out the Cockins and Johnson plan of lots in South Canonsburg and continued active in business until the close of his life. [TCHWWC, 847]
