General Notes: Husband - Richard Howard Jamison

He was educated in the public schools, and completed his college preparatory studies at Mercersburg Academy. Then he entered Princeton University and had completed three years of his course there, when the Spanish-American War broke out, and he left college to enlist in the 10th Regiment of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He went with his regiment to the Philippine Islands, where he saw more than a year of active service. His college days thus abruptly broken into were not resumed. Instead, upon his return to civilian life, Mr. Jamison entered at once into the coal business. His connections in the coal industry were numerous and important. From 1900 to 1915 he was active in the operation and general manager of the Jamison mines. In 1923 several coal and coke companies of which he was president were merged, forming the Irwin Gas Coal Company, of which he became president. He was also a director of The Jamison Coal and Coke Company, founded by his father, and a director of the First National Bank, of Greensburg.
A Republican in political sympathies, Mr. Jamison was a staunch supporter of the activities of his party, in which he took a lively interest. He was a thirty-second degree Mason and a Shriner, holding membership also in the local Lodge, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. His clubs were: the Duquesne, of Pittsburgh; Art, of Philadelphia; Oakmont Country, Pittsburgh; Greensburg Country; and the Hannastown Golf.
He and his family were members of the Second Reformed Church.
