General Notes: Husband - David Himrod
He was prominent as a contractor of public works and improvements, and a member of the firm of Vincent, Himrod & Co., which succeeded Himrod & Co., whose industrial plant in Erie, Pennsylvania, established in 1841, did so much towards reviving the drooping prospects of the city, which had been sorely blighted by the financial disasters of 1836-7 and were so long dormant. The firm erected a blast furnace, the first in Erie County, procuring the ore from the vicinity. He was the inventor or first to introduce a new system of smelting iron ore with bituminous coal. He was elected a member of assembly from Erie County in 1857.
His striking resemblance to Gen. Simon Cameron was remarkable.
