Known as John Irwin of Donoughmore, he never left his native land. He was a man of upright life, favoring education, liberty and progress. He was twice married. His first wife bore him six children, the eldest of whom was James. His second wife bore him three sons and a daughter, the youngest of whom was Boyle.
