He obtained his preliminary education in the public schools, and was with his father working on the farm and in the mercantile business for several years during his young manhood. Entering the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Baltimore, Maryland, he completed his course there in 1893, and, the same year came to Hillsdale, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, where he found a congenial field of labor. He was a member of the Indiana County Medical Society.
