Clearfield Co, PA

He developed a fine farm in the midst of the wilderness, upon which he spent his remaining days. He was a prominent and influential man, a strong Democrat in politics, and a Methodist in religious belief.

He was born near Bellefonte, in Centre County, Pennsylvania, and came with his parents to Clearfield County, where the rest of his life was spent. After his marriage he bought 150 acres of land one mile north of Curwensville and later cleared it and developed a valuable farm. This land was later owned by Ai and Eli Bloom.

He was a native of New Jersey, came to Pennsylvania about 1795, and arrived in Clearfield County in 1802, accompanied by his father.
