General Notes: Husband - Capt. Thomas Reid
After his marriage in 1840 he lived in Rochester, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. He was a river captain and boat owner and for many years was engaged in shipping coal up and down the Ohio river. He and his wife both owned good farms in Beaver county, and they were devout members of the Presbyterian church, in which he was an elder. In politics he was an uncompromising Republican and while he never aspired to public office of any description he was loyal and public-spirited in his civic attitude and gave freely of his aid and influence in support of all measures projected for the common good.
