General Notes: Husband - John Williamson

He came to Mercer County, Pennsylvania, in the year 1798, and bought 100 acres of land from Jacob Loutzenhiser, lying on the Little Shenango, northeast of Greenville. He came from near Carlisle, Cumberland County. On this tract Williamson and James King, the latter a mill-wright, erected a saw-mill with a grist-mill attachment the next year. Two years later (1800), their families having meanwhile arrived, these two men built the first grist-mill on the Little Shenango. Mr. Williamson is said to have been a man who could not do too much for a neighbor that needed assistance, and was much respected.

James Williamson served as first lieutenant in the Twelfth Pennsylvania Line, Colonial Volunteers, during the struggle for national independence.
