General Notes: Husband - [Father] Irons

The Irons family here under discussion came to America directly from Ireland, but there are grounds for believing that they were originally settled in England, from whence they migrated to Ireland. [GPHBC, 984]

There is a great deal of contradictory information regarding early generations of this family.

The father's name was James Irons, and he lived and died in Ireland. He had six children, of whom Joseph first came to America and settled in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Samuel and Solomon Irons, sons of John [sic], came to America and settled near Noblestown, Pennsylvania. [HBC 1888, 853]

William Irons, the first of whom we have record, was born in Ireland, and emigrated to America prior to 1800. Solomon Irons was the son of William Irons, the immigrant ancestor. [GPHBC, 984]

Three brothers, Solomon, Samuel and George, came to this country from County Derry, Ireland. They were sons of a very wealthy man who held ninety-nine year leases on considerable property. [BOBBC, 355]
