General Notes: Husband - James Milton Imbrie
He received his education at the Greersburg Academy. He had a farm of 100 acres, where he resided, on which he was born, the greater part of which he cleared with his own hands. He also owned one in Darlington township. He was very successful as a farmer; starting with nothing, he accumulated a farmer's fortune. His farms were always kept in good repair. For a number of years he was engaged in wool growing, and so successful was he in this, that his wool was known far and near to be the best grown in that section of country.
He was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian church; in politics a Republican.
He grew to manhood at the place of his birth, and on the death of his father purchased the interests of his co-heirs in the home property. In young manhood he and a brother, John R., were the proprietors of a general store at Newcastle, Pennsylvania, but after five years in mercantile life he returned to the home farm, there spending the rest of his years. During the Civil War he raised many sheep upon his property, the condition of affairs at that time having placed wool at a premium in the open market and made its production the most profitable of occupations. For many years he was an elder of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, and politically was a Republican, filling numerous township offices.
