General Notes: Husband - John B. Hysong, Sr.


He built the Loyalhanna Coal Works at Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and was superintendent of the same for five or six years. He then came to Mount Pleasant, where his death occurred. He died at the age of fifty-four.

He was born near Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, and followed the coal business most of his active life. He was the superintendent for the Loyalhanna Coal and Coke Company, near Latrobe, for about fifteen years. He was a soldier in the Union army during the Civil war, a member of a regiment of Pennsylvania volunteers. Politically he was a Republican and in religious faith a United Presbyterian.


General Notes: Wife - Eliza J. Myers

from near Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland Co, PA

After the death of her husband, she removed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with her son, John Hysong, who was associated with the Pennsylvania Railroad at Youngwood.
