General Notes: Husband - Matthew Henderson

His education was a liberal one, and he was successfully engaged as a teacher for a time. Farming and stock raising then engaged his attention for some time, after which, in 1850, he went to California, where he was interested in gold mining, which proved a very profitable investment for him. He returned east in 1859, and there engaged in a general mercantile business, with which he was identified a number of years. Turning his attention to real estate matters, he was connected with this branch of business during all the latter years of his life. In 1889 he removed to McKeesport, in which place he resided until his death.
