General Notes: Husband - George Bratten Armstrong

He received his education in the common schools of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and started for himself in 1855, farming on leased land until 1876, although he had bought a farm in Westmoreland County in 1870. In 1876 he bought another farm, and in 1887 sold the one in Westmoreland County. In 1872, in company with others, he bought a lot in Parnassus, and built the Odd-Fellows' hall, which he then owned.
His family were members of the Presbyterian Church at Parnassus, of which Mr. Armstrong was an elder. He was a member of the I. O. O. F., and for several years was representative to the Grand Lodge. He was also a member of the Sons of Temperance, and was school director, supervisor and judge of elections.
