General Notes: Wife - Anna Eliza Stewart

Died Friday
June 11, 1909
MRS. RUBEN HECKATHORN
Mrs. Ruben Heckathorn, aged 73 years, died at the old Heckathorn homestead,
Aiken's Corners, at 3:30 o'clock on Friday afternoon, June 11, 1909, after an illness of some time from liver complaint. Mrs. Heckathorn, who was formerly Miss Anna Stewart, of Butler County, was born on March 20, 1836. She was united in marriage to Ruben Heckathorn on Nov. 26, 1857 and the couple had thus spent more than fifty years of happy wedded life together, celebrating their golden wedding with a large gathering of relatives and friends at their home two years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Heckathorn settled in Lisbon or Aiken's Corners, 34 years ago, putting up a log house and afterward building a comfortable and roomy farmhouse. Here they reared a large family of children and lived to see them all settled in homes of their own and to welcome them back to the old home each year. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends go out to the aged husband who is thus separated from his life companion.
Mrs. Heckathorn was a woman of the most lovable character, a good wife and loving mother and believed by a multitude of friends throughout the section in which she lived. The home of the old people has ever been a favorite visiting place for the children and grandchildren, all idolizing the sweet and kindly grandmother and cheery, optimistic grandfather. Mrs. Heckathorn was an earnest Christian woman and a member of the Associated Presbyterian church. Beside her husband Mrs. Heckathorn is survived by the following children: W. S., John, and James Heckathorn, of Seneca; Ruben, of Reed; Samuel and Mrs. John Burke of Aiken's Corners, and Mrs. Mary Jolly, of Victor, Col., all of whom were present at the funeral with the exception of the last named. One daughter died a number of years ago. One sister and one brother also survive, Mrs. Joseph Campbell of Karnvive, Mrs. Joseph Campbell, of Karn City, and Wilson Stewart of New Castle.
Funeral services were conducted at the home on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Huston, pastor of the deceased, officiating. Interment was in the Brick Church cemetery at Aiken's corners.

CELEBRATE THEIR GOLDEN WEDDING
Important Event in History of the Heckathorn Family
Fiftieth Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Heckathorn
The Golden Wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Heckathorn, of Lisbon, Venango county, which occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1907, was an event of great importance in the Heckahtorn family history and an occasion much enjoyed by all who were so fortunate as to be present.
Relatives and friends numbering at least two hundred were gathered at the home of the aged couple on that day and not one of the crowd thus assembled but will look back upon the day as a particularly bright spot in their lives. The day was given over entirely to the entertainment of Mr. and Mrs. Heckahtorn by their children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces and never were old people made more of than this couple who have rounded out fifty years of happy married life and lived to gather about them a family in which the spirit of loving brotherhood is so dominating a force.
Out of the seven children six were present with their families, W.S., John and James and their families going from Seneca for the days of days. Baskets of provisions appeared with every fresh arrival of relatives and figured in the dinner which put half a dozen Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners rolled into one, far into the shade, and was served as a plate lunch by the sons to at least 150 persons, others coming and going during the day made up the fifty more who were present to make merry and shower congratulations upon the pair.
Among the numerous presents which Mr. and Mrs. Heckathorn received was the sum of $30 in gold, a $5 gold piece being given by each of six children. Other presents were a pair of beautiful Indian slippers for each from their daughter, Mrs. Mary Jolly of Victory, Col., comfortable shoes, coat and bonnet and gold brooch for "grandma," while "grandpa" came in for an elegant overcoat, gold cuff links and numerous other dress accessories.
The evening was entirely given over to the young people and games, old and new with frolics of all sorts, made the time pass all too quickly. During the evening the young people suddenly disappeared from the house and a deafening din outside proclaimed the fact that grandpa and grandma were supposed to be serenaded, and the couple were led forth to receive the serenading to the pleasure and delight of both, and in this way with laughter and merriment on all sides, the evening hours were spent and good-byes were said, those living nearby going to their homes while guests from a distance remained at the roomy farm house for the night. Those from a distance were; the five sons and one daughter; William S., James. John and their families of Seneca. Ruben and family, of Reed, Samuel and family and Mrs. Margie Burk and family, of Lisbon, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Jolly, of Victor Col.. being absent; Mrs. Heckathorn's brother, Wilson Stewart and family of New Castle; Joseph Stewart, Harry Stewart and family, Mrs. May Berry and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Swanson, all of New Castle; Miss Lizzie Stewart and Ferman Stewart, of Hilliard, beside a large number of friends from the vicinity in which the aged couple reside.
Mr. and Mrs. Heckathorn were united in marriage on Nov. 26, 1857, she being formerly Miss Anna Stewart, of Butler county, the bride of Tuesday owning to 71 and the groom to 7 A years. They removed to Lisbon 33 years ago and purchased their present farm of 160 acres, putting up a log house, their first habitation, afterward building the present comfortable and roomy farm house. Here they have since resided and the family is one of the most highly respected in this entire section. Mr. and Mrs. Heckathorn are both in good health and give every indication of living Co celebrate their diamond wedding. Mr. Heckathorn was a soldier in the Civil War, serving throughout the entire war.
