General Notes: Husband - John Ernest Hovis

He learned the stonemason's trade, and followed it for some years. In 1844 he settled on the part of the homestead farm and resided there. Politically he was a Democrat. He was a class leader in the Methodist church, and always took an active interest in the public affairs of the township. [HVC 1890, 962]
