General Notes: Husband - Adam H. Hovis
He enlisted Oct. 1, 1862, in the 14th Penn. Cav., Co. I, and served in the Army of Western Virginia. He was captured by Mosely's guerrillas at Bolivar's Heights June 29, 1863, and remained prisoner over four months in Libby Prison. He acted as company blacksmith during his service, and was honorably discharged Oct. 1, 1865, having served three years. He was a member of the F. & A. M., G. A. R. and of the Andersonville Associative Survivors, of Chicago, IL. He has worked at his trade forty-five years, and has accumulated some property. Politically, he is a Republican.
