General Notes: Husband - George Washington Hazlett

Like his father he had to work hard in his youth, and had but limited opportunities to secure an education, but he made the most of his chances, and his early schooling was supplemented by much reading and close observation, so that he became a well-informed man. He remained on the home farm until he was twenty-four years of age, at which time he purchased a property in West Mahoning township, known as the old Kinter farm, a tract of 109 acres, of which Mr. Hazlett cleared about seventy-five acres. He devoted his land to general farming, in which he was uniformly successful, and each year he added to the improvements on his property, continually enhancing its value.
He was a stanch Republican in politics, but never aspired to public office. He was a faithful member of the Church of God at Georgeville, Pennsylvania. [HIC 1913, 1517]
