General Notes: Husband - Col. Thomas Hosack
Adams Co, PA
He served in the War of 1812, attaining the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
He was a distinguished military officer in the War of 1812, and commanded, in 1813, the 134th Regiment of Pennsylvania militia. Colonel Hosack was greatly esteemed by all who knew him, and did not deserve the sad fate which he afterward met. He was burned to death in his own house, which caught fire accidentally, yet he nearly escaped, for his bones were found just inside the doorway, after the fire, and it is probable he had tried to crawl out of the burning building, and became suffocated by the smoke, just as he was about to gain his free-dom. Mrs. Hosack was away from home at the time, and their son only escaped by jumping from a second-story window. [HMC 1877, 47]
He was an uncle of Dr. J. P. Hosack, a physician of Mercer, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. [HMC 1888, 302]
