He graduated with honor from the Titusville, Pennsylvania, high school, where he was prepared for entrance to college. He matriculated at Cornell University, from which he was also graduated, with the degree of Civil Engineer. He at once established himself in the practice of his profession, becoming civil engineer for a company in Pittsburgh, and was a resident of Wesleyville, Pennsylvania.
