General Notes: Husband - Ezra Taylor Hazeltine
He attended the public schools in the neighbor-hood of his home, and pursued an advanced course in the Jamestown Academy. He began his active career as a teacher and was so em-ployed in the states of Pennsylvania, New York and Iowa. He went to Iowa in 1859 with the intention of following farming, but in 1860 he returned east and located at Warren, Warren County, Pennsylvania, where he accepted a position as clerk in the drug store of Hazeltine & Company, and in due course of time became a partner, which connection continued until 1868, when he disposed of his interest in order to devote his entire attention to the manufacture of the Piso Cures, one for consumption and one for catarrh, which business he conducted successfully for many years, finally disposing of it to good advantage. He was later connected with the Bashlin Company, and was an active factor in other business enterprises, having served as treasurer of the Hazeltine Woolen Company, president of the Conewango Building & Loan Association, treasurer of the R. H. Kinnear Manufacturing Company, and vice-president of the Citizens' National Bank of Warren. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
