General Notes: Husband - Joseph Hays


He was the proprietor of a livery stable and a dealer in horses, and during the Civil War purchased horses for the government. For forty-seven years he had a barn near the Doncaster Hotel. For over a half century, with the exception of one year, there was a Hays livery stable in Rochester, Pennsylvania. He was a Republican and served as a member of the town council. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity for a half century, and was made an honorary member.
