For many years he was an active contractor and builder in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, particularly in Franklin and Greensburg. He erected the Rappe Hotel in Greensburg and many other buildings in that city. He also superintended the erection of most of the buildings of the Kelley and Jones Company, later the Walworth Company, of Greensburg. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg.
