General Notes: Husband - Samuel Hamilton

He was born of Scotch-Irish stock, and was a man of fine literary tastes, who traveled extensively in Europe. He married in Europe, and after his return to America settled on a farm in Washington County, Pennsylvania.
Near the close of the rebellion, although too old to be drafted, he raised a company and went to the front. After the close of the war he bought a small farm in Plum township, Allegheny County, where he died. The family were Presbyterians, the father being an elder in that church.
