He was desended from Baron Munch of France, who, because of his conversion to Protestantism, "during the reign of Louis XIV, was stripped of his possessions, his chateau burned, and he himelf killed." His kinsmen in 1685 fled to Germany.
Simon Munch and his brother, Peter, descendents of Baron Munch, came to Oley Valley, Pennsylvania, in 1736. Simon's son, Christopher, of Bernville, had twelve children. His daughter, Catharina, married George Lesher, about 1797.
