General Notes: Husband - Hugh Hasson
He settled in Canal township, Venango County, PA, in 1799. They came to the county with horse and pack saddle, and horse with sled car. There was a road from Pittsburgh to Harrisville, Butler County, and from there they came with their horse, pack-saddle and sled car, through the woods, there being no wagon roads then. They stopped over night with a man by the name of Samuel Ray, when they arrived in the county. The first year they raised about 100 bushels of potatoes, a little wheat, etc., The first plow he used had a wooden mouldboard. Hugh Hasson was a soldier of the revolutionary war, served throughout the entire war. [HVC 1879, 555]
He moved from New London, Chester county, PA, to Canal township, Venango County, in 1799, where he resided until his death. [HVC 1890, 264]
He became a resident of French Creek in 1799 or 1800, moving here from the eastern part of the state by means of a horse and pack saddle, and a horse and sled. They settled a short distance from Utica, where he died.
He came to America and settled in eastern Pennsylvania, where he engaged in farming. He served in the war of the Revolution, and about 1800 came to Venango county and located in French Creek township, later removing to Canal township. [HVC 1890, 1064]
