General Notes: Husband - Solomon Hoge
As was usual in the pioneering days, he filled his days with many occupations, farming, building and operating flour and lumber mills, making wagons and coopering. He conducted an extensive business for that early day, and built the first steam flour mill in Greene County, Pennsylvania, in 1833, marketing his flour in 1837 by flatboat on the Monongahela River and on the canal to Philadelphia. The panic of 1837 destroyed his business, forcing him to sell his steam mill, and he purchased what later became known as Hoge's Mills, where his son, W. H. R. Hogue, later lived.
General Notes: Wife - Rachel Huss
She was a direct descendant of John Huss, who was burned at the stake at the time of the Reformation, for his religious belief.
