General Notes: Husband - John Frederick Naley
He was born on his father's farm in Penn township, Westmoreland County, PA, and received a common school education. Until he attained his majority he assisted his father on the homestead, and then learned the carpenter's trade. This he followed for eight or nine years and then took up contracting, in which he was engaged for a number of years. Compelled by failing health to relinquish all business for a considerable time, he travelled over a large portion of this country, visiting Denver, Atlantic City, Chicago, and Birmingham. Returning to Pennsylvania he stopped for a time at Meadville, where he fasted forty-one days, this heroic treatment finally accomplishing his recovery. In 1893 he moved to Greensburg and after a stay there of a number of years settled in Manor Station, where he thereafter resided and devoted his attention to real estate, his specialty being town and city property. He was a member of Greensburg Lodge, No. 840, I. O. O. F., Greensburg Council, No. 40, R. A., and Jeannette Lodge, B. P. O. E. He was a Democrat, and a member of the Reformed church, in which he has served as elder for four years.
