General Notes: Husband - Philip Hartman
He was a native of Holland, settled near Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, prior to the Revolutionary War. He enlisted in Colonel Ogle's regiment, of the Pennsylvania Line, and served throughout the struggle for independence. Prior to 1796 he came to what is now Oakland township, Butler County, and took up 200 acres of land, upon which he lived for several years, dying in Armstrong County.
The family was Catholic in religion.
He became a pioneer settler in what is now Oakland Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he had a farm, part of which was later the Weiland farm, and on which there is a family burying-plot still kept separate and believed to be the resting place of John Hartman, his son, who died while yet young. This section was little less than a wilderness at that time, many Indians being about.
