General Notes: Husband - Daniel Proper

He was four years old at the time his father came to Venango County, Pennsylvania. As a boy he shared the hardships and labors of the family, and when the war of 1812 broke out, though a mere youth, enlisted as a soldier and for many years in his old age drew a pension for honorable service in that contest. At the age of twenty he married and settled on a large farm adjoining his father's. From this union were born seven sons and three daughters.

He and his wife had twelve children. [HCC 1899, 728]
