General Notes: Husband - Christian Streit

---

He was a Lutheran pastor serving churches in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Many references to him are included in Muhlenberg's diary. He records that "Mr. Streit according­ly spoke in a brief, clear and edifying manner" and that "Mr. Streit was loved by his congregation". During the American Revolution he served as chaplain of the 8th Virginia Regiment. Muhlenberg includes this note on March 20, 1776: "Had a visit from Mag(ister) Christian Streit, who had travelled from Easton to Philadelphia and there to my house here, in order to confer with me about a call to an army chaplaincy in Virginia. He seemed favorably disposed to accept . . if his churches would release him".
The Rev. Christian Stright kept a diary and records events in his life including the dates of birth of his children, 20 in all.
