General Notes: Husband - Henry Hile
He was a native of Germany, and took up his residence in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, on coming to America when a young man, and there married a lady of Irish birth. Purchasing a farm near Lumber City, he there engaged in lumbering and farming pursuits until called from this life.
At an early day came to Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, from Northumberland County, and became one of the pioneers of that section. Religiously he was a Primitive Baptist.
He removed to Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, at an early day from New Jersey, his native state. Near Sunbury he purchased two farms, but in 1835 he sold out and came to what is now Lumber City, Penn township, Clearfield County, where he bought 450 acres of wild land, on which he erected substantial buildings and made all the improvements.
