He was a confidential clerk in the offices of the Carnegie Steel Company. Soon after his marriage he was appointed representative gen­eral of the Carnegie, or United States Steel corporation, in the city of Mexico, where they resided for two years. At the solicitation of his wife he resigned that position and returned to Pittsburg in the employ of the same company.
