He came to America and married. They first settled in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, where he cleared and developed an excellent farm. Later he sold this at the rate of twelve dollars per acre, and going further west settled in Rostraver township, Westmoreland County, where he bought property at nine dollars per acre.

She was a native of Ireland, but came to the United States as a young girl. She died when ninety-four years old.
