General Notes: Husband - William Arthur Groft

He was born on the old family homestead, in East Huntingdon township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he received his education in the White schoolhouse. He remained at home with his parents until he had attained his majority, and at the age of seventeen began working in the sheet mill. Until he was of age he gave his wages to his parents, reserving only what was necessary to defray the expense of his clothing. After his marriage he settled in his own home near the White schoolhouse. After entering the sheet mill he was continuously employed there, and steadily advanced until he now held the position of roughing and extra roller. He and his family were members of the United Brethren church, in which he served as an officer.
