General Notes: Husband - Robert McKelvey Hammill


He located on a farm in Center township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1831. It was platted to Thomas McCrea in 1788, and the tract was called "Junction." The warrant was issued to McCrea in 1785 and he commenced the improvement about that time. The "Whiskey Boys" had an encampment on this farm during the memorable "Whiskey Rebellion."

Robert Hamill, a native of the Ligonier Valley, living near Waterford, Pennsylvania, was a son of Robert Hamill, a native of County Antrim, Ireland, where he was born on November 25, 1759. During the Revolution, Robert Hamill was a private in the Pennsylvania Militia and served for three years, including participation in the battle of Bunker Hill, Boston, on June 17, 1775.
