He was born on the old homestead in Mount Pleasant township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, near Weavers Old Stand. This farm, which was in the Love family nearly ninety years, was willed to him at the death of his father. In politics he was a Democrat, but was never an office-seeker. He was a firm believer in the Bible, but did not hold to any sect, but believed in all the commandments and ordinances in the church of God. He was most liberal in his support to church and charitable work.
