General Notes: Husband - Sloan R. Hall
He obtained his early education in the public schools of his native place, and in 1889 went to Edinborough Normal school, remaining there only one term. He then entered the Penn Art and Business College of Delaware, Ohio, in 1890, graduating in the same year. The four succeeding years he engaged in teaching school in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, two years of which he was instructor in the Leechburg High school. In the autumn of 1894 he entered the employ of the Hyde Park Steel Company, of Westmoreland County, remaining with them until 1896, when he associated himself with the West Penn Bottle Company. In July, 1899 he severed his connection with the last named firm, and removed to Jeannette, where he accepted the position of shipping clerk for the Jeannette Glass Company. By 1902 he was a stockholder, secretary and general-superintendent of the works.
Politically, he was a supporter of the Republican party, and served the borough of Jeannette as a member of the board of health. He was also a member of several prominent societies, among them being the F. and A. M., Lodge No. 577 of Leechburg and the B. P. O. E., Lodge No. 486 of Jeannette. He was a trustee and active member of the First Presbyterian church of Jeannette.
