She was born at Durham, NH, in a house opposite Thompson Hall of the Univ. of N. H.; educated at Northfield School, class of 1935, and the University of N. H. class of 1939; B. S. majoring in Home Economics; completed a year's training in Hospital Dietetics at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, 1940. On completion of that course, she was employed as Assistant Dietitian at the Free Hospital for Women in Brookline, MA. In 1941, she was advanced to the position of Head Dietitian which position she held until December 1, 1943, when she re­signed to enter the U. S. Army as a Medical Dietitian with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was stationed at Camp Kilmer, NJ, on Janu­ary 7, 1944. A few months later she was sent to England for service with the 19th General Hospital which was sent to France shortly after the invasion and was stationed at Nancy. Later she served with Hospitals at Liege, Bel­gium, Regensberg and Stuttgart, Germany. During October, 1946, she was sent home on a 45-day furlough after which she was assigned to the Letterman General Hospital at San Francisco. On June 1, 1945, she was promoted
to 1st Lieutenant. As a student in the Univer­sity she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority; Outing Club; Home Economics Club; Managing Editor of the 1939 Granite; a moun­tain climber; and in her Senior year was chosen as one of the Senior Class of the Univ. of N. H. for Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Single.
