General Notes: Husband - Samuel Phillips

Greenville, Mercer Co, PA

Having received his education at the common schools, when twenty-one years of age, in 1860, he engaged in the saw-mill industry, continuing for about three years. He then changed his occupation to that of farming on the old Rodgers farm, which place he had purchased. Shortly after he purchased a farm in Pymatuning township, disposing of the Rodgers farm. In 1889 he left the farm and went to Greenville, where he thereafter resided, save for five or six years when he went back on the farm again. He was noted as a breeder of Shorthorn Durham cattle and he bought and sold many head of such stock. He was a thoroughgoing business man and came to possess much property in Greenville. He was an efficient school director for several years in Pymatuning township. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Politically he voted with the Prohibition party, being among the first in his township to cast a vote with that political organization.
