He enlisted in the Civil War June 20, 1861, in Co. I 39th Pa. Vol.; was wounded at Gaines Mills June 27, 1862; promoted to Ser-geant June, 1862, and to 2nd Lieutenant May 16, 1863. He was a prisoner at Fredericksburg, December 13, 1862. Mustered out June 11, 1864.
