General Notes: Husband - Jacob Brewer
He was one of the pioneers of Montgomery Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and his land was carefully selected by Botzyergoll, an Englishman, who lived where Jacob Freeze later resided. A patent for part of what later became the Cushwa farm was obtained by Jacob Brewer, who was not only one of the first settlers but also one of the most enterprising men of his day. Many relics, such as arrow-heads, stone hatchets, etc., were found on this farm, which show it to have been one of the favorite hunting grounds of the Indians. It was well watered with a never-failing spring.
He and his wife were natives of Washington County, Maryland, where they were married. They bought a farm of 200 acres, two miles east of Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, in 1802, and kept house in a log building. They afterward built a brick residence, where they lived until they died, he at the age of eighty-two, and she when eighty-four; both were buried in the family graveyard. He was a member of the Lutheran, and she of the German church. They had eleven children, all of whom lived to be grown and married.
