She was a descendant on the maternal line of a man who helped finance the Revolution. Much of this ancestor's wealth was lent to the U.S. Government, to be repaid in 200 years. June remembered that each year her mother was visited by a representative of the government to see the state of the family. Finally, when June was a young girl, her mother became frustrated by the delay, and burned the papers which proved their claim.
