General Notes: Husband - John R. Welsh

He received his education in the local public schools of Derry township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and at Ligonier Academy. Upon completing his studies in the latter institution, he returned home and at once took charge of the old family farm, which, under successive generations of his family, had become one of the most fruitful in the region. The prosperity of the farm was still further increased by Mr. Welsh who carried on there successful operations and became well known throughout the countryside as one of the most progressive and wealthy farmers in the region. So successful was he that he retired entirely from active life in the year 1890, and from that until his death resided in the city of Latrobe.
